Informatics comprises both the technological and management disciplines associated with the application of Information Technology. In 1990, Dr. Joel Adler founder of University Informatics Associates Inc. (UIA) initiated a new and innovative consulting service for organizations utilizing Information Systems Technology.

We believe that this fuller agenda constitutes the real purpose of consultation and maximizes the added value that consulting engagements can provide to clients. Emphasis on the development of professional skills in the client organization contributes in a lasting way to the clients competitiveness and over the longer term to the ability of the nation to compete on a global basis.
Our innovative organizational structure
All organizations are required to become more flexible to adapt to rapidly expanding global competition and information technology. Consulting organizations must adapt as well in two ways. First, no single consulting organization can remain expert in all areas of Informatics. Second, consulting organizations must constantly be refreshed with new developments and ideas surfacing in academe. University Informatics Associates meets this challenge in the following ways.
UIA associates are senior consulting practitioners with extensive industry experience who remain currently active in academe. These consultants can identify with industry needs for timely change while retaining the strategic longer term perspectives encouraged in academe.
In addition to specific areas of expertise UIA associates are generalists who can structure a problem context so that the correct issues are addressed and benefit to the client is assured.
UIA associates, by virtue of their long industry experience have access to proven consulting organizations specializing in a variety of technical areas.
Resources for each engagement are assembled and contracted for anew to provide the most effective mix of expertise for the specific challenge at hand.
Emphasis is placed on utilization of the clients internal technical resources on each project. The size limitations of UIA remove the incentive to generate work for large cadres of more junior personnel, which unfortunately often is the modus operandi in the consulting industry.
